Inspiring?

I began to wonder today just how music actually inspires someone? And I realized I really don’t know!
My closest guess is when anything inspires me personally, it makes me want to create; to go for my dreams even more passionately; to express something “stirring” inside me that still longs to come out, but hasn’t yet..
So when one of you writes and tells me how inspiring my music is for you, I am certainly humbled and very pleased at the same time:)

Artists create mainly to express themselves; they are a vehicle for the creation of otherworldly things and beauties; artists aren’t necessarily conscious of this. In fact, one may say that during the creative process, when artists experience what they call a flow, they are merely possessed by a supernatural force that some call God. In that case then, artists do not consciously create to lift or transform souls; you see, they are selfish. This is constructive selfishness privy only to those who see the world differently. These fortunate individuals, these artists, are chosen as channels, as mediums, to inspire those less fortunate to do good things. Then it becomes a ripple effect, an energy, which can conquer evil and lessen grief and mediocrity. When they say that “artists make the world go round,” I believe this is what they mean. But it’s not because an artist has gone out and done that on purpose.
Jim,
You ponder a good question: “How does music inspire?”
The word inspire means “to breath into”. Biblically, I understand it means: “God breathes into man.” Therefore, inspiration is life giving!
Personally, I think music is a profound manifestation of the spiritual world – both seen and unseen. No great revelation, huh?
I’m ecstatic that you chose the narrow path for your talent, i.e., to LIFT (“RISE”) man’s state of being; unlike the wider path most talented musicians take to appease man’s natural desire for the status quo or worse-self destruction thru lust, pleasure and lack of any sense of taking responsibility for their behavior and facing the consequences of bad choices. They look for “entertainers” that communicate NO SENSE OF JUDGEMENT regarding absolute rights and wrongs. The YOUTH CULTURE loves that kind, huh?……..until they grow up/wake up (beware, some never do) after observing the difference in the lives around them and their respective ends, i.e., lifted up or smashed down!!!
I believe that your consistent mission from the start to appeal to the best qualities of man’s nature (and nature’s nature…lol) elevates your talent to be applauded “on earth, as it is in heaven.” I am confident that your family and friends in both realms are bragging just a little that they know you…..I know I am!
So, Jim, my prayer is that you keep “breathing into us” your beautiful music ……. a win/win!!! We need it…and you get to keep breathing……..lol !!!
